Featured Jewellery Designer: Foe and Dear

Portobello West chats with Katherine Huie about her jewellery line Foe and Dear.

Tell us about your work.
Foe and Dear is a combination of vintage/new chains and charms to create one of a kind jewelry. Experimentation with unique and exotic materials ranging from brass to 14-karat gold to precious stones makes Foe and Dear a blend of mystery and romance, reminiscent of stories both whimsical and dark.

How did you get started as an artist or designer?
Creating jewelry started as a hobby when I was 12.

What is your inspiration as an artist? What is it about your work that you think people are drawn to or inspired by?
I draw my inspiration from my passion for art, literature and design. Using vintage brass and gold chains, charms and precious stones, each piece has its own story to tell. Foe and Dear also makes custom jewelry, so you can take part in the design process too.

What is your favourite thing about or to do in Vancouver?
Hunting for treasure, dancing in the rain, exploring new depths of the city, and going out for tasty sushi.

Are any shops or galleries lucky enough to have you?
